Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Quick & Easy Christmas Card

Last Saturday of the month means it's time for Seashore Stampers Blog Hop! Welcome from Mi Ran's blog.

Today we are sharing last minute or quick and easy Christmas cards. Sometimes there are are those unexpected additions to your card list, or someone you forgot last year and almost did again. And then there is the busy schedule that has you putting off your cards to the last minute. Or perhaps you want to make all the cards at once, keeping them simple for mass production....

Now, everyone's interpretation of quick & easy can be different. So for that reason I am showing the same card, well supposed to be the same card, done four different ways. They were supposed to be landscape cards, but I forgo that when I made this first one.

This first card is pretty basic. Just stamp, mat, tie a ribbon, and pop up on the card base. Can't get any easier than that. Just remember it's supposed to be landscape.

White with a hint of red is quite striking. And, of course will work with any choice of colour for your Christmas card/s.

Measurements:

Card base- Whisper White Thick - 11 (5 1/2")w x 4 1/4"h
Real Red - 4" w x 2 3/4" h
Whisper White (reg) - 3 15/16"w x 2 11/16"h

Next, we take the above card and step it up a bit with some DSP. Using DSP for cards is another way to add a little something to your card/s without all the work. Just a little extra cutting that is easily done while watching your favorite TV show or movie.

Measurements:

Card base - Whisper White Thick - 11 (5 1/2")w x 4 1/4"h
DSP - 5"w x3 3/4"h
Whisper White (reg) - 4"w x 2 3/4"h
DSP - 3 7/8"w x 2 5/8"h

You can see the two parts that are popped up in the photo below.

OK, still keeping it simple but just folding it differently and adding a couple more cuts and stepping up one more notch. A Gate Fold card! These always bring a little brighter smile to the receiver's face because it's just a little more unique.

Measurements:

Card Base - Whisper White Thick - 11 (5 1/2") x 4 1/4" h
SCORE @ 2 3/4" & 8 1/4"
DSP - 2 @ 2 1/2" h x 3 3/4" w (cutting with the pattern matching down the center - could cut 1 @ 5" w x 3 3/4" h and cut down the center)
Whisper White (reg) - 2 @ 2" w x 2 3/4" h
DSP - 2 @ 1 15/16" w x 2 5/8" h (or cut 1 @ 3 7/8" w x 2 5/8" h and cut down center)

In the next photo you can see what is popped up.

If that is still a little too simple for you, you can step it up just a bit more by adding red mats to it. It's still an easy card that just adds time to cutting and matting pieces.

Measurements:

Card Base - Whisper White Thick - 11" (5 1/2")w x 4 1/4" h
Real Red - 5" w x 3 3/4" h
DSP - 4 15/16" w x 3 11/16" h
Whisper White (reg) - 3 15/16" w x 2 11/16" h
Real Red - 3 7/8" w x 2 5/8' h
DSP - 3 13/16" w x 2 9/16" h

And, again, just the two layers are popped up.

So there you have it. Three additional versions to the very clean and simple card below, all of which are quick and easy according to your style and skills. The choice is up to you.

Hope you enjoyed these. Now on to see what Addriene started with today. Or go backwards and go to the previous page the Mi Ran posted!

Dream Theme Blog Hop - Small GIfts

Welcome from Renate Ecklmayr's blog in our Dream Theme International Blog Hop! Hope you are enjoying all the wonderful creations made so far.

As you probably know by now, today's theme is "small gifts". I decided to see if I could make a masculine small gift box. I went to find some small gift giving items one might give to a man (or older teenager) and found a small foam shaving canister, and a small masculine shampoo. I was thinking of a third item, but couldn't find one without running to several stores. So I left it at that.

Ever since I made my Pretty Pines Christmas card in Early Espresso and copper, I have loved the colour combination. So I thought this gift box would be the perfect opportunity to use it again.  The gift box measures 5 1/4"w x 3 1/2" d x1 7/8"h.

Behind the circle closure, or I should between the layers, is a magnet to help secure the box lid in position.

Here, in this next photo, you see the contents, with an empty little section. That section is for little treats, I just didn't have any on hand when taking the photos.

With everything out of the box, below, you can see the division of the box. If this would be a feminine version, you might want to place the largest oval die cut in silver, as a faux mirror, into the lid of the box. You can kind of see a bit of a gap in the front center where the lip of the box is; that is where the other magnet is placed.

When the items are used or placed somewhere else, this box would look lovely on any dresser, night stand, or even in the living room, to hold other items such as a watch,  money clip & cuff-links, or just some treats.

Now it's time check out what the talented Jennifer Pauli has created for your inspiration!

News from Stampin' Up and a Joy to the World Card - Merry Medley & Tin of Tags

I can't ask you if you want the good news or sad news first from Stampin' Up, so I will just go with the good news first.

Stampin’ Trimmer Cutting Mats and Scoring Blades Now Available

It is announced today that Stampin' Up is bringing back the replacement Stampin’ Trimmer Cutting Mats and Scoring Blades. These items will be available for you to start ordering today!

Stampin’ Trimmer Replacement Cutting Mat (item 131375) $5.00 CAN
Stampin’ Trimmer Scoring Blades (item 126996) $6.50 CAN

Like the cutting mat, the scoring blade is made to last and will not wear out. These replacement items may be helpful for you if you lose a piece or prefer to have extras on hand.

Now for the sad news -

Handheld Stapler Being Discontinued

Due to supplier issues outside of Stampin' Up's control, the Handheld Stapler (item 139083) and coordinating Silver Mini Staples (item 135847) will be discontinued after the current inventory runs out.
I love that handheld stapler! It is sad to see it go and I hope that Stampin' Up will be able to bring it back at some point. If you have the stapler and don't want to run out of staples, now would be the time to stock up! If you've always wanted the stapler, get it now  with some staple refills before it's gone!

OK, now on to my Christmas card for today.

A lot of people love very simple design, not only in their home decor, but also in the cards they receive. And some people just love the simple cards to make for mass production at this time of year. So this is what I came up with based on these facts.

The sentiment and little snowflake are the only things that are popped up with dimensionals. I am still contemplating whether or not to add just a piece of that sparkly silver ribbon from the Holiday catalogue, or a rhinestone or two to the card, but haven't quite made up my mind yet.

On the inside I stamped this lovely sentiment from the "Peace This Christmas" stamp set, as well as the little image, which I coloured with Stampin' Write Markers before stamping to give it the three colours.

That's it for today. For all my fellow Canadians, hope that you had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday.

Happy Stamping!

October 1 through 31 , you can buy three packages of Designer Series Paper and get one free! That’s great news since everyone can use more Designer Series Paper. This sale includes Designer Series Paper from both the annual catalog and the recently released holiday catalog (not including Specialty Designer Series Paper or Designer Series Paper Stacks).
