The Wilderness Awaits - Dog

The third of the Wilderness Awaits masculine card series.

I had so much fun making this card! But, my words aren't flowing after today's day. I had to wait all day for the plumber, and it turned out I could have done the things I had initially planned to do as he couldn't get here when he thought. It was 5 hours later. Sorry

Using the Hardwood background stamp I think works well for this image. And if you can't guess what I did with the Hardwood piece, it is something I wish to share with my class when that day arrives. I'll come back and include it in this post when the class is done.

I chose to do water colouring with my Aqua Painters for the image on this card (on the outside).

Taking a long piece of Linen Thread and folding it in half, and then half again, I tied a knot and then trimmed the ends off. Love how the look turned out.

Die cutting an oval one size larger than the sentiment oval fives the sentiment and card a unique look.

Below you can see the layering of the card
.

For the inside of the card, I opted to not water colour the image, but used sponging instead.  I'm wishing I took the extra time to water colour again as it looks too different from the front of the card. What I like about the sentiment inside the card below is that it can work for Father's Day, Birthday, Anniversary, etc.

Hope you enjoyed another masculine 'Wilderness Awaits' card. Tomorrow is the Elk, so pop by again.

Happy stamping!

2016 Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek - What I Love - Part Four & REMINDER

Hello everyone! Today's card is for the 'fussy cutter'. What I love about fussy cutting is the effect you get when you layer all the things you cut out. And if the card is for someone special, then it's worth the extra work.

In the closeup below you can see the details of the layering better. You can also see the light background stamping I did using the "Hardwood" background stamp. To get that faded look, all you have to do is take a piece of Stampin' Sponge, ink it, and dab the stamp a little here and there. Then take the piece you are going to stamp[ and place it on top of the background stamp and without moving the piece of cardstock, gently rub, or use your brayer, to imprint your background. Who says you have to have the background stamp in it's entirety?

Here, in the following photo, you can see the background effect again where I stamped the sentiment.

Below is a side view. The only thing popped up, with dimensionals, is the foreground flower.

I used the same background technique for the inside of the card. With using Sahara Sand, the background is light enough that it won't interfere with what you write on the inside of the card.

I also off stamped more than once to get lighter colouring with the same ink pads. Have fun with this technique! (What I used will be at the end of this post)

Hope you have been having fun browsing through the new Occasions & Sale-A-Bration catalogues! (Links to the PDF Catalogues on on the right side bar)

Wild About Flowers With Background Block Stamping - Pair

Hello everyone! I'm sharing with you today a couple of cards that I made using the "Wild About Flowers" stamp set and using the Watercolour Background using a Clear Block and Stampin' Write Markers. At the end of this post there is a Stampin' Up! Video showing you how to use this easy technique.

Since soon we will be loosing the beautiful 2014 to 2016 In-Colours (Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss, & Tangelo Twist), I wanted to use those colours for these cards. It's always hard to say 'good-bye' to the In-Colours when they are retired. If you love these colours, you may want to consider acquiring product with these colours to stock up a little.

I did not pop up any layers on these cards at all, but here is what I did on the inside of the cards. On the inside, I usually like to off-stamp or second-stamp as some call it.

So if you are wanting to experiment with this technique, this quick tutorial video will show you how to do it.

Have fun with this technique, and experiment with different sizes of clear blocks, too.

Wetlands 6

Good Morning! It's Wednesday, and the week is half over! Times just flies by.

I'm excited because tomorrow my two sisters (one is bringing her husband too) are arriving! We haven't been together in about 30 years! We've seen each other of course, but just haven't gotten all together at the same time! So of course I'm scheduling my posts so that I can have every possible moment free.

Any way, back to the series of "Wetlands" cards.

This one is using the clear block again, to stamp the background as well as a tiny bit of masking to create the shoreline.

And of course in class we will be learning how to create reflections! Another fun technique.

And a very simple inside. I didn't add any colour to it, and now I wish I had. (don't know what happened to lighting on this photo?)

I love having cards that are masculine, but in a pinch could give to a woman. After all to a woman, all colours and many combinations seem to be enjoyed.

Be sure to stop by later today for "Wetlands" # 7!

Happy stamping!

Wetlands 5

Did you find anything exciting in this week's Weekly Deals earlier today? Check it out if you've missed that post earlier today.

This "Wetlands" card was cased from Pinterest and designed by Holly Obier of inkstampandscrap.com. There are some very slight changes from her original design.

Again, watercolour paper is used with the background ink block stamping technique.

The grass stamp was used to create a background on the Crumb Cake card base, and the Woodgrain texture embossing folder used on the Soft Sky to give it the look of water.

The only thing popped up is the Sandpiper image on the watercolour paper.

The tied ribbon is adhered onto the image using Crystal Effects. It works wonderfully as a glue for things like this, or metal and wood.

A simple ink sponged background and a portion of the birds are stamped in the bottom right corner for the inside.

What I like about this card is that is appropriate for both feminine and masculine receivers.

It was fun to case all these cards, and I hope to get to my own ideas in a while.

Thank you for checking out Wetlands #5. Be sure to stop by tomorrow for #6 & #7!

Happy Stamping!
