The Wilderness Awaits - Elk

For this last card in the Masculine Card Class, I obviously stepped away from the traditional neutral browns used for masculine cards, and chose to go with Night of Navy and Mint Macaron. With the Elk, I chose to create a silhouette out of a lined stamped image, and create a sponged scene background for the Elk.

It's amazing what a closeup (below) reveals! In real life the elk looks coloured in without white showing, lol.

The layering and popped up section is seen better in the photo below.

I'm sure most men and older boys would love to receive this card for either a birthday, Fathers Day, or anniversary.

Be sure to drop by tomorrow for all the class details!

Happy Stamping!

The Wilderness Awaits - Dog

The third of the Wilderness Awaits masculine card series.

I had so much fun making this card! But, my words aren't flowing after today's day. I had to wait all day for the plumber, and it turned out I could have done the things I had initially planned to do as he couldn't get here when he thought. It was 5 hours later. Sorry

Using the Hardwood background stamp I think works well for this image. And if you can't guess what I did with the Hardwood piece, it is something I wish to share with my class when that day arrives. I'll come back and include it in this post when the class is done.

I chose to do water colouring with my Aqua Painters for the image on this card (on the outside).

Taking a long piece of Linen Thread and folding it in half, and then half again, I tied a knot and then trimmed the ends off. Love how the look turned out.

Die cutting an oval one size larger than the sentiment oval fives the sentiment and card a unique look.

Below you can see the layering of the card
.

For the inside of the card, I opted to not water colour the image, but used sponging instead.  I'm wishing I took the extra time to water colour again as it looks too different from the front of the card. What I like about the sentiment inside the card below is that it can work for Father's Day, Birthday, Anniversary, etc.

Hope you enjoyed another masculine 'Wilderness Awaits' card. Tomorrow is the Elk, so pop by again.

Happy stamping!

The Wilderness Awaits - Duck

Here in Victoria BC, we have a lot of mallard ducks that can be found in great number at Beacon Hill Park. Knowing the colours of the duck, I was trying to figure out how to get that iridescent blue/green colouring of their heads using the Stampin' Write Marker colours available to us. Using the artist 'pointalism' technique I made dots on the head combining Island Indigo & Wild Wasabi.

This is the second card I'm showing you for the masculine card class in June.

I coloured the duck I stamped on the card as well as a second duck to cut out and pop over the one stamped on the card. The next photo shows a close up of the colouring.

For the water I did use the Blending tool as well.

In the side view below, you can see the layered duck.

I love the pop of the Island Indigo banner added to the card with the other two colours; colours that the duck has.

Thank you for stopping by to have a look at this card. Looking forward to this class in June.

Happy Stamping!
