87th Birthday Card For My Dad

It has been quite a while since I have posted anything on my Stampin' Up! blog. No I haven't signed up again as a Demonstrator, but I have finally had a chance to make something using my Stampin' Up! products. I have been keeping up with all that is new due to some good friends, but I had been busy teaching classes for Scrapbook Essentials BC for a while, and then I moved back to Alberta. Calgary to live with my daughter there for about 5 months, and then nearly a year ago we all moved to Lethbridge.

I am now making card kits for Scrapbook Parade in Victoria, and we mail things back and forth. If you wish to see what I design for the kits selling there, her is the link to my other blog, Aspiring to Creativity. If you go there, you can see the other two cards I made for my twin sisters. You see, my Dad and twin sisters all have their birthday on the same day! But since I used Stampin' Up! products for my Dad's card and not the others, I am only posting his on this blog.

I wanted to make an elegant masculine birthday card for my Dad, and I think I pulled it off.

You can see the layering in the above photo. If you remember me, I love layers!

I think this is one of my favourite tree stamps! And below's photo of the leaves...well I love them too. I only wish I had purchased the die set to go with the stamps. I never got around to it. So I had to cut them out with my fussy cutting scissors.

Well, that's it for this post. I hope that another two years doesn't pass before I post here again. I hope to use some Stampin' Up! products again. There are more family birthdays coming, so I hope I get the chance to use some of my favourites again.

Until then, Happy stamping and creating!

Dream Theme Blog Hop - Small GIfts

Welcome from Renate Ecklmayr's blog in our Dream Theme International Blog Hop! Hope you are enjoying all the wonderful creations made so far.

As you probably know by now, today's theme is "small gifts". I decided to see if I could make a masculine small gift box. I went to find some small gift giving items one might give to a man (or older teenager) and found a small foam shaving canister, and a small masculine shampoo. I was thinking of a third item, but couldn't find one without running to several stores. So I left it at that.

Ever since I made my Pretty Pines Christmas card in Early Espresso and copper, I have loved the colour combination. So I thought this gift box would be the perfect opportunity to use it again.  The gift box measures 5 1/4"w x 3 1/2" d x1 7/8"h.

Behind the circle closure, or I should between the layers, is a magnet to help secure the box lid in position.

Here, in this next photo, you see the contents, with an empty little section. That section is for little treats, I just didn't have any on hand when taking the photos.

With everything out of the box, below, you can see the division of the box. If this would be a feminine version, you might want to place the largest oval die cut in silver, as a faux mirror, into the lid of the box. You can kind of see a bit of a gap in the front center where the lip of the box is; that is where the other magnet is placed.

When the items are used or placed somewhere else, this box would look lovely on any dresser, night stand, or even in the living room, to hold other items such as a watch,  money clip & cuff-links, or just some treats.

Now it's time check out what the talented Jennifer Pauli has created for your inspiration!

Wonderful Year with Lovely as a Tree and Layering Circles Dies

By now you know that I love all white, or mostly white cards. I've cased myself from this card (last card on this post), as a request to add to a Christmas card class this year. I just had to add that sweet white pom pom trim to it.

A close up of the image created using "Lovely as a Tree". If you don't have this set, get it before the end of May 2017, because it has been in the catalogue so very long, that one never knows when it will be retired.

Side view shows the layering and thickness at the sentiment are, but it will go into an envelope easily enough.

Inside, I couldn't decide on a sentiment and left it for later. But, I did create a bit of an image with the "Lovely as a Tree" set.

So there you have the final card for this class. Hope to see you in class on the 21st! A great class for those last minute cards.... Do you want one more Christmas card class at the beginning of December? Let me know.

I am very excited right now, because I will be at a Canada wide Stampin' Up! event which we will be leaving for bright and early tomorrow morning to catch the ferry to Vancouver. I've heard that these events are incredible and fun, so I am looking forward to the experience. This will be my first big Stampin' Up! event. One great thing about this event is that we will be able to see the new Ocassions and Sale-a-Bration catalogues before they come out, and some of the product as well. We even get prizes from the new catalogues! How great is that! Looking forward to sharing them with you when I get back.

While away, I have some posts scheduled for you, so enjoy.

Happy stamping and creating!
