Paper Inlay with Detailed Floral Thinlits - Sympathy Card

I forgot to post this sympathy card a while back. I tried my hand at some paper inlay which I don't do very often. I think if you use multiple colours it is a little more dramatic and eye catching. The the receiver loved it and that's always the main thing, right?

A closer look. I used my sponge and So Saffron to colour, or darken, some of the pieces a bit.

Somehow, I forgot to take a photo of the inside...

I created the black frame to position over the die cut piece to hide the edges after cutting it down to size.

Paper inlay takes time and patience, especially with this die, but it is worth the effort. Are you inspired to try it?

Happy creating!

DSP Sneak Peek Sympathy Card - 1

A real quick post. I have had to attend two funerals last week, and needed to make a few sympathy cards (my Dad needed some too). I decided to give you a sneak peek of one of the designs of the "Falling In Love" DSP coming in the new 2017 Occasions catalogue.

Using DSP can help in making real quick and easy cards when needed. For this one I just stamped a sentiment right on to the DSP.

I will have a couple more sympathy cards to show you,  and one of them has this same DSP.

Thanks for checking in today. Hope your Christmas creations are coming along nicely.

Happy creating!

Thoughtful Branches Bundle - Limited Edition for Aug - #5

Hello everyone! Hope your week is off to a good start.

Today I'm continuing with the the Thoughtful Branches Bundle and showing you a card that uses more of the coordinating die set (Beautiful Branches) with the stamp set. You have the option of purchasing this as a bundle (which I recommend) or as individual items.

This Hydrangea was first stamped using both the Blushing Bride & Calypso Coral inks.

I took the large 'F' Clear Stamping Block and with my Blushing Bride ink pad pressed the ink pad onto the center of the block. Then I added four or five random tiny little drops of Calypso Coral ink refiller. Using the mister filled with water, I then misted the inks on the clear block. Taking the stamp I inked it from the clear block and gently stamped it onto my cardstock. When dried I then die cut it and used the wonder Die Brush to remove it from the intricate die. I repeated this step by stamping onto my card to create a background peek-a-boo.

I used this technique with the three background leaves as well. Love the die cut stem & leaves. You can of course cut off the die cut leaves and use them as embellishment as I did for the first Christmas card I created with this bundle and my bunch of Thank You cards.

In this side view, below, you can better see that I stamped another Hydrangea underneath the die cut one.

A tip to help you with popping up the die cut stem & leaves is to cut narrow strips of Dimensionals for the stem, and to roll mini glue dots with your paper piercer for the intricate leaves. You will require two rolled glue dots stacked to achieve the same height as the Dimensionals.

On the inside, I stamped just a portion of the Hydrangea and leaves.

Hope that you are inspired to get this bundle in August, so that you too can have a lot of fun playing with all the many creative possibilities with this set.

Botanical Blooms - Part 1

Another weekend to spend some time crafting! Today I am showing one of four cards that will be a part of the Botanical Bundle class. I've already posted the Botanical Builders (die) class for April, and over the next few days I will be showing you the cards for the Botanical Blooms (stamps set) class.

Let's begin with this sympathy card. It looks a little like an ink resist card, but rather than heat embossing and blending the ink afterwards, this one is done in reverse. Ink blend first and then stamp with Archival Basic Black!

Black and Mint Macaron pair well and make for a striking colour combination.

From the Mint Macaron layer up, these three layers are adhered together and then popped up with dimensionals.

And, a little something on the inside of the card.

We'll see you tomorrow for card #2. Below are some of the product used to make this card.

Have fun creating this weekend and happy stamping!
