Need a Last Minute Gift? - Framed Christmas Decor

I was going to start showing you more things made for Sneak Peeks with the new things I ordered from the 2016 Occasions Catalogue, but decided instead to go back to a couple of Christmas things I've made.

This one is a Sampler made using most of my current Christmas stamp set, using a full 8 1/2" x 11" Whisper White cardstock sheet. This is not the one I gifted, but my first attempt. I wasn't happy that some of the blocks were not perfect. Some sides were not square. The other thing is that with the Nativity scene I tried to save time by putting the three stamps all together on a clear block. The result was that they were too spread out. And the third thing I wasn't happy with is the snowflake block. So I redid it, but never got a photo of it. So to share my idea with you, I'm showing you the first one with it's imperfections, and not framed.

So that you can better see it, here is the top half...

...and here is the bottom half.

I did use a lot of 5" x 3" Post-It-Notes, but it's a fun project to do and you can get Post-Its real cheap at the dollar stores.

This project came together pretty quickly, so if you are still needing a last minute Christmas gift, create something like this. Put it in a frame, and the receiver will have a gift to remember every Christmas when they put it out with their decorations!

Below is everything that I used. What was really different about this project is I didn't have to cut anything!

So if you find a bunch of frames at the thrift stores, you can quickly paint them any colour with spray paint and create wonderful samplers as gifts!

Thank you for stopping by today, and Merry Christmas to you all!

Festival of Trees - Big Bow

Now this card, being the 5th and last for this class, is not a mailable with that great big bow, but is one that you give in person. You could also put something other than a big bow at the top.

To create the snowflake background on the Crumb Cake, I used the snowflake stamp from the Perpetual Calendar stamp set.

To punch the tree from the white strip I first stamped the tree in a position that the punch could reach and then after punching it, I placed it on the Cherry Cobbler strip. Lining up the punch with the previously punched one in the white, I also punched it out of the red.

Just some simple stamping on the inside. Of course, as usual I had great fun creating these cards and look forward to seeing you in class. Most scheduled classes are full for this set, but if there is more interest, I can schedule another one.

Happy Stamping!

Festival of Trees - Cherry Cobbler

The photo doesn't do this card justice. A fairly simple card, but the deep red, gold, and Crumb Cake go very well together. I also like the contrast of the wood grain texture against the flourish/flowery tree stamp.

This is the fourth of the five cards for the first Christmas Card Club Class in July. I  must say I rather enjoy starting to make Christmas cards without the feeling of rushing to get the cards ready and off of my Christmas list.

Lightly inking the Crumb Cake circle with Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler looks good behind the trees.

And here is the inside...

With Christmas only six months away (we all know how fast time flies), it's time to start thinking about what your paper crafting plans will be and get a start on your cards to avoid that rushed feeling. What inspiration are you getting for your ideas?

There are some great Christmas product available now starting on page 67 in your catalogue!

Come back to peek at tomorrow's Christmas Card!

Festival of Trees - Tip Top Taupe & Night of Navy

Combining one of my favorite colour combinations, Night of Navy with Tip Top Taupe, this simple masking technique card is a great one for mass production for those many cards you need to send out.

In the photo below, you can see that I stamped the tree twice. Once with Tip Top Taupe and once with Night of Navy. It makes the tree a little fuller looking as well as adding a shadowy dimension to it. By using a white gel pen I was able to add snow to the tree and sky.

Next you will see how I did the layering.

I love how the inside of the card turned out. It's a very peaceful scene, don't you think?

Now there are just two cards left for this Christmas in July Christmas Card Club class. So stop by for a visit tomorrow and check it out.

Happy Stamping!

Festival of Trees - Mossy Meadow

As I said yesterday, I am playing with my "Festival of Trees" stamp set to see what I can come up with for the ladies of the July Christmas Card Club. I love this sampler technique, but it has been a while since I used it. With the exception of the snowflakes, everything has come from the "Festival of Trees" stamp set alone.

Here you can see how I layered the card.

After tying the gold thread/cord I glued together two stars, back to back, at the ends.

By using post-it notes I could make a "sampler" pattern for this card, working on each section individually.

For the inside I used the little Snowflake stamp from the "Perpetual Calendar" stamp set.

I had a blast making this card and using an old technique again. Hope you are inspire to try this again, too!

Tomorrow will be the third of the five cards for this July class, so be sure to stop by for a peek.

Happy stamping!

Getting Ready For The July Christmas Card Club - Tip Top Taupe

There are a few ladies here that like to start making Christmas cards in July so I try to have a monthly Christmas Card Club for them.

I decided to play a little with the "Festival of Trees" stamp set. Even though we had this set for the last Christmas, I wanted to see what it would look like with some of the new In-Colours.

I chose to start with Tip Top Taupe and Dazzle Glimmer Paper.

Using my silver ink pad, I stamped tree onto the Dazzle Glimmer Paper and punched them out with the Tree Punch. I stamped two trees on the card with white ink.

Here is the inside of the card. I was kind of wishing I had used Tip Top Taupe instead of the silver for the inside.

Well, that's it for this one. Tomorrow I will show you another card made with this stamp set. So be sure to come by for a peek.

Happy stamping!
