Sneak Peek - Pun Intended - Light Bulb - Hostess Stamp Set

Today we are still taking a look at the new Hostess stamp set "Pun Intended" but with the focus on the Edison Light Bulb this time. With a light bulb I found myself gravitating to yellow. There is nothing saying it has to be yellow, a person could choose any colour they wanted to. But I stuck to the traditional yellow.

These are the three cards I made.

For this first card, I must say that I cased this card from one of my favorite Stampin' Up Demonstrators, Kylie Bertucci (Australia). It is such a striking CAS card, I couldn't resist. I did make a few slight changes like a wider yellow border and putting the bulb on the right rather than the left.

In the collage below you see the inside of the card, and the bottom right photo shows how the second/top cut out light bulb is glued on at the top of the bulb but popped up toward the bottom of the bulb.

The next card, again has a lot of yellow (So Saffron DSP Stack) paired with Night of Navy rather than black. Around the banner area I sponged on some So Saffron before mounting the three 1 1/4" wide banners.

The Whisper White banner background is stamped using one of the Gorgeous Grunge stamps. I love the little circle cut out on the side where I popped up the little heart from this stamp set.

The Circle mat is created using a scallop punch, punched twice to get this edge effect by rotating it slightly for the second punch.

The collage below shows the inside of the card along with a couple of details of the card.

The third of this light bulb series focuses on masking to get multiple images stamped, playing on the sentiment. Once the archival black ink dried, I was able to use a sponge with Daffodil Delight (wishing I had more Sponge Daubers so that I could get the glow better, but I just had the sponges).

LOL! I can't help but think of Disney with the black, red, and yellow! But the card is about love (red) and black goes well with red, and the yellow is the colour of light of course, so...

The collage below, once again, shows a few of the details.

It's amazing to the Edison style light bulb come back, not only in home decor, but in arts and crafts too. Well that's it for the light bulb cards. Tomorrow will come the bees!

In the mean time, happy stamping! Oh, and remember there are only four days left to get anything on your wish list from the retiring products....

Sneak Peek - Pun Intended - Camera - Hostess Stamp Set

The other day, I showcased four cards made using the "Lots of Love" new 2016-2017 Hostess Stamp
Set. In my Demonstrator pre-order I ordered another Hostess Set titled "Pun Intended"(141804). This is a great set for scrapbooking, Project life, Albums, or Cardmaking!! I plan to use this set throughout the next year for some of these genres. Today, it's cards. I was having so much fun with this set that I ended up making three cards per stamp - camera, Edison light bulb, and bee.

Today we are having a look at the camera cards. Here are all three.

As we look at them individually, we'll be going from left to right. This first one I know that my 12 or 14 year old granddaughters would love.

The "Lucky Stars" embossing folder will not be available in the new catalogue, but there is a very good replacement for it titled " Sparkle" (141468). I still haven't ordered my Wink of Stella so I used my Dazling Details on the stars. I think the Wink of Stella would look much better.

In the collage below you can see the inside of the card, and other details.

For the next camera card I played with water colouring the background using my new Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy (2016-2018 In-Colour) Stampin' Write Markers, Clear Block E, Stampin' Spritzer, and Aqua Painters. Aren't those colours beautiful?! I then dried paper with the Heat tool and stamped the camera on top.

This is a great card to send someone a photo or two. Just tuck them inside, write a little note, and send it off in the mail. Much better than emailing them a digital version...

Again, more details of this card in the collage below.

For the third and last camera card of this series, I used the new In-Colour Peekaboo Peach for the card base. The water colour splashed background I created using my Clear Block E, Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Write Marker, Stampin' Spritzer, Aqua Painters to spread it around on the block, and the wonderful Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. Once I had the colours on the block, I spritzed them with a fine mist of water, spread it around a bit with my Aqua Painter, then inked my stamp from it and stamped on Whisper White! Voila!

I also stamped two camera on Smoky Slate and fussy cut them out, layering them with dimensionals.

And, the inside with other photo details in the collage below.

Hope these cards have inspired you to have a party to earn your hostess stamp set! Or you can place a $200 order to get your choice of Hostess Stamp Sets after June 1st. And remember, you can earn an extra $40 in rewards during the month of June. (see details below) Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a look at the Edison Light Bulb series of cards using this stamp set.

Happy Stamping Everyone!

Seashore Stampers Meeting Make & Takes & WINNER Announcement

Last Saturday I hosted our Stampin' Up Team meeting, and usually two or three of us will prepare Make & Takes.A few days I ago I showed you what I had planned for my Make & Take, and today I will show you the other two that were prepared for us to make.

First is a sweet little Post-It-Note cover shared by Mi Ran. Isn't it sweet! The little pens she got from Staples Office Supplies.

Side view...

When you take the pen out, it looks like this (below) and is easier to open the booklet.

How did we make the little feather? It was created by using one of the leaves from the Botanical Builder die set and feathering it with scissors.

The cutting and scoring measurements are written in the photo below. And to create the pen holder, you fold along the center scored line and with scissors cut just to the next scored line at about 1 1/8" from the top and then from the bottom.

Next, you adhere those same 1 1/8" sections that are closest to the back (the largest cover section), down onto the back (the largest cover section), and there you have your little booklet with pen holder.

These were so easy and fun to make! Thank you Mi Ran.

The next Make & Take was provided by Bruni, casing a card from the 2016 Occasions Catalogue. A quick and easy CAS (clean and simple) card using the flourish from the First Sight stamp set.

I Love the washi tape we put on the side. I decided to off stamp the flourish first so that the sentiment would stand out a bit better.

Thank you Bruni.

Well that's it for the Make & Takes from our last team meeting. Thank you for stopping by to have a look.

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

Do you remember my "Save on Cardstock and Enter a Draw to Win!" post? Well the winner of that draw is DEB CLARK! Deb, I will be ordering your new 2016 - 2018 In-Colour Cardstock package and notify you when it arrives!

Happy Stamping Everyone!

Birthday Blossoms - GDP #037 - Colour Challenge

Added May 30th

One of the winners at GDP #037! I wasn't expecting it as there were so many beautiful cards. TY GDP!

        _________________________________________________________________________

Have you ever created something where while your were making it you started to question your choices? Well I did. I decided to participate in the Global Design Project Challenge #037 this week, and it turned out to be a colour challenge using Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron, and Island Indigo.

I decided to show Island Indigo as the dominant colour, but when I was creating all the parts to the card and saw them all lying there in front of me, I began to question my colour choice. It might look too dark. Maybe I should create another one but just use the challenge colours as splashes of colour.

So since I was in the watercolouring stage, I quickly stamped more blossoms and leaves and painted more for another colour choice for a second card. (Oh, I forgot to mention that I stamped the blossom and leaves in Archival Basic Gray ink). Once I had everything all die cut, punched out, or fussy cut out, and was ready to assemble the two cards, I still wasn't sure about them. Once the cards where completed I decided that they booth looked pretty good, but which one is the better one to enter. Now every time I look at the two cards I change my mind as to which card I prefer. First I decide I like the darker one, and then the next time I look, I prefer the lighter card. And so on...

Here are the two cards. You can see that they are almost identical, but give a very different look.

Let's have a closer look at each of them, shall we.

In the next photo you can see that I stamped the sentiment twice and cut the banner form one to pop over the other one.

For this card, I stamped the background blossoms in Tip Top Taupe before water colouring the background starting with the Tip Top Taupe strongest in the left bottom of the "Lots of Labels" die cut, blending into Mint Macaron, and then into Island Indigo in the upper right. I wanted to do this to see if the water would fade the background blossoms and blur them into the background. It worked to a degree, but also made the Tip Top Taupe look somewhat pink in places.

The side view below shows the layering on this card.

For the inside, I had some of the fussy cut leaves left over and glued it into the inside of the card.

Now, to show you the details of the lighter version created with Very Vanilla as the base.

The card's side view is next.

For the background water colouring on this "Lots of Labels" die cut I did the water colouring first, before off stamping the bunches of blossoms lightly in the background. I also changed the order of the water colours. I started with the Island Indigo in the bottom left this time, blending into the Mint Macaron, and then into the Tip Top Taupe on the upper right.

I again stamped the sentiment twice to cut the banner out and pop it up over the sentiment on the die cut.

The layernig of the card and popped up parts are seen in the next photo.

And for the inside, I used the leftover water colour pieces that I didn't get used on the fronts of the cards.

So there you have my story on these two cards. Is there one that you prefer over the other? I'd be interested in knowing.

Be sure to check out all the inspiration at GDP this week!

Happy stamping!
