Trying Something New For Scrapbooking - Part 4

OK, this is part 4 of the series, but today I'm showing you an 8 x 8 album that I made for my eldest son's family in Phoenix. In Part One of this series I explained how I got these retired Stampin' Up! 2013 Christmas 8 x 8 albums. I wish Stampin' Up! made this size regularly, but as you saw in Part one through three, you can still make larger pages for the current albums.

So this is how I made most of the pages for this sized album.

Each page consists of using an entire 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock .

  1.  Punched three holes to line up with the rings along one of the 8 1/2" sides.
  2. If you want the flap on the right (front), flip to the back side with holes on right, 11" across top, and score at 8 3/4". If you want the flap on the left (or back) place with holes on the left, 11" across top, and score at 2 1/4".
  3. I didn't use much DSP (Designer Series Paper) on these pages and opted instead to do more stamping. With this size of page you would go through a Lot of DSP. But when you do use it, keep in mind your paper pattern.
  4. Using scraps of cardstock and DSP works very well. Even narrow strip work great and can be stamped on with little sentiments.

On many of the narrow flaps I added additional parts to it for more photos, etc., as you see in the next two photos below.

As in my previous album, I also added photo flaps on the page itself as you see in the next photo. I used the Envelope Punch Board to create the tab.

The next two photos show a much larger addition to the side flap.

I love adding stamps onto the photos. It adds a little something...

A few different ideas on this next page layout, and I used some DSP here. See the little booklet on the left...

...it opens up to reveal a couple of photos. After all these years I still love the look of the faux stitching.

I also created a pocket using DSP, placed a photo on it, and three more photos on the tag inside. Two smaller photos on the front of the tag, and a large on the back, that I did not take a photo of.

I used DSP leftover strips on this tag.

It seems that I forgot to take a picture of the page on the left below as it opens up to the left revealing a 16" spread. Don't know why I forgot to do that? Oh well.

I love the Black & White photo of the page on the right. Working with black and white photos makes creating pages of an album so much easier since you can use the same colours throughout the entire album without worries of matching up colours that go well with colour photos. That might be something to consider...doing an entire album using just black & white photos.

Tomorrow I will continue with the rest of this album. See you then! You can see what I used for this entire album below, excluding colour of cardstock and inks. I did use some retired stamp sets as well which do not appear below.

Happy Stamping!

Bonus Non-Christmas Wondrous Wreath

So now you've seen all the Christmas cards for the August Christmas Card Club class. So this post is about the class details and a little extra bonus for those that purchase both the stamp set and die set.

Monday, August 24th
1:00pm - 4:30pm

Wednesday, August 26th
6:00pm - 9:30pm

With Stamp Set - $42.00
With Stamp Set & Framelits - $65.00 with a bonus from me*
Without Stamp Set or Framelits - $25.00

This is a very versatile stamp set. It can be used all year round and doesn't have to be for Christmas alone. Make wreaths for any occasion all year round! Birthdays, Spring, Easter, Valentines, Weddings, Fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and more! However, because this is for the Christmas Card Club, we will of course be making the Christmas cards you see above.

We will be layering two to three stamps to create wreaths and garlands, heat embossing with two colours, and die cutting with a great system to cut out our wreaths.

Bring your "To Go Kit" as well as Versamark ink pad (if you have one), Heat Tool (if you have one), Crystal Effects (Glossy Accents), Dazzling Details (Stardust Stickles), red jewels or plain jewels with a red alcohol marker (Blendabilities/Spectrum Noir), and Pearls. See the upper right corner of my blog for the "To Go Kit" list.

RSVP by August 13th, below or contact me  - sabradcreations@gmail.com

Payment for your Stamp & Framelits order must be in by Thursday, August 13th.

Did you notice "with a bonus from me*"?  Well for all those that purchase the Wondrous Wreath bundle that includes the dies, you will receive a free extra card kit and simple instructions to create with your new stamp & die set.

And here it is!

A non Christmas card using the Wondrous Wreath Bundle. This cheerful card for any occasion is a great card to give.

I love the cheerfulness of this card! I decided to leave the inside blank for you to use your own creativity on.

Here are the things I used to make this card with.

As I've mentioned before, there are many different kinds of themes that this set can be used for. Have fun experimenting with them.

See you in class!
Happy stamping!

A Door and Wondrous Wreath

The August Christmas Card Club class will be creating this card, too. With a few simple pieces cut out of scraps on your paper trimmer, you can create a door on your card which is a perfect backdrop for this wreath.

And using a small Antique Brad you create a door knob.

I realized after taking this photo that I forgot to put those teeny tiny pearls in the center of the little Poinsettias.

On the inside, I kept it simple again by just stamping a sentiment.

For this card I used the following -

Black and Gold Wondrous Wreath & Weekly Deals

The Weekly Deals are posted after this card.

Even though I do make non-traditional Christmas cards on occasion, I never thought to make black ones. I would every so often see one, but would kind of feel it to be a wrong colour for a Christmas card. So imagine my surprise when I kept getting the thought to make this card in black! I finally gave in to my thought and am quite happy with how this card turned out.

I love how the gold and white heat embossing turned out on the wreath. I coloured Rhinestones with a red alcohol marker (Blendablities discontinued but I happen to have Spectrum Noir markers).

Here, in the next photo you can see the layering of the card.

If you use the bow in the Wonderful Wreath Dies, it would make it more mailable.

A simple inside.

So there you have another card for the August Christmas Card Club class. See below for what I used in the making of this card, and be sure to stop by tomorrow for another one. To see what I used for this card, scroll down to the end of the post.

Now for the new Weekly Deals!

WOW! Lots of ribbon! And if you are thinking Christmas, the Star Framelits are on sale! The Number Thinlits too! What about those Fun Frames embossing folders! And a great deal and Fast Fuse Refills! A great Weekly Deals for us this week!

Wondrous Wreath Garland

After stamping and die cutting wreaths, and fussy cutting through them in half, a person can create garlands!

I love these long cards, and the garland works perfectly for this sized card.

Te garland is popped up and Dazzling Details are put on the red berries. On the inside, with a little section I even attached a piece on the inside of the card with a repeated stamp strip on the left.

So there you have it! Another nicely mailable Christmas card. What will tomorrow's be I wonder?

Happy stamping!

Very Merry - Wondrous Wreath

OK, back to the August Christmas Club Card class. Hope you enjoyed seeing the lovely watercolour English Garden DSP yesterday.

This 4 1/4" square card is ideal for mass producing and no dimensionals used for easier mailing. A nice neutral and simple card. I love the simple pop of red from the berries.

I continues with the simple pop of red on the inside by stamping the sentiment in red.

Stamping the three stamps to create the wreath is not as difficult as one might think. A great stamp set!

See you tomorrow for another card that is in the class.

Happy Stamping!

Wondrous Wreath - Pals Paper Arts 260

I've created a Christmas card for my August Christmas Card Club class, and I decided to use the Pals Paper Arts sketch 260 challenge in it's creation.

I used non-traditional colours for this card with Soft Sky & Mint Macaron ink for the wreath, adding Dazzling Details on the Mint Macaron leaves.

You can see the sketch on the right.

The Wonderful Wreath Framelits also come with the words "Noel" and "Joy". Using "Joy" I die cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

Next you can see the card from the side to see the layering.

I didn't do anything fancy on the inside, just the red border and a sentiment.

Below you can see all the stuff I used to make this card. Be sure to check in to see the other Christmas cards for the August class coming over the next few days. Are you starting to think about planning your Christmas cards yet?
