Dream Theme Internationsl Blog Hop - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome from Renate's blog.  With the end of the year not far behind Christmas, we are taking the time to share with you some New Year inspiration.
The 2016 Holiday Catalogue does carry some New Year related stamp sets, and my shared project uses the "It's a Celebration" stamp set. I don't usually make New Year cards, but I had a blast creating it. I noticed that black, gold & silver seem to be the colour choice for New Years; why not, as there are some formal parties with tux and gown where the New Year is greeted at midnight.

I'm sharing with you an A7 card (7"w x 5"h) and a coordinating 'Curvy Keepsake' treat box.

Here is the card with the heat embossed gold & silver sparkler, or fireworks if you wish, as the background.

The gold foil numbers are raised with dimensionals, and the vellum heat embossed banner is attached to the numbers.

Some more gold heat embossing on the inside with a sentiment (from Frosted Medallions.

The little "Curvy Keepsake Box" look great with the gold & silver heat embossing and gold ribbon and vellum tag.

If you are planning a New Years party, perhaps this project has inspired you in preparing for it. Be sure to check out the Team's creations on their blogs for more inspiration and fun.

News from Stampin' Up and a Joy to the World Card - Merry Medley & Tin of Tags

I can't ask you if you want the good news or sad news first from Stampin' Up, so I will just go with the good news first.

Stampin’ Trimmer Cutting Mats and Scoring Blades Now Available

It is announced today that Stampin' Up is bringing back the replacement Stampin’ Trimmer Cutting Mats and Scoring Blades. These items will be available for you to start ordering today!

Stampin’ Trimmer Replacement Cutting Mat (item 131375) $5.00 CAN
Stampin’ Trimmer Scoring Blades (item 126996) $6.50 CAN

Like the cutting mat, the scoring blade is made to last and will not wear out. These replacement items may be helpful for you if you lose a piece or prefer to have extras on hand.

Now for the sad news -

Handheld Stapler Being Discontinued

Due to supplier issues outside of Stampin' Up's control, the Handheld Stapler (item 139083) and coordinating Silver Mini Staples (item 135847) will be discontinued after the current inventory runs out.
I love that handheld stapler! It is sad to see it go and I hope that Stampin' Up will be able to bring it back at some point. If you have the stapler and don't want to run out of staples, now would be the time to stock up! If you've always wanted the stapler, get it now  with some staple refills before it's gone!

OK, now on to my Christmas card for today.

A lot of people love very simple design, not only in their home decor, but also in the cards they receive. And some people just love the simple cards to make for mass production at this time of year. So this is what I came up with based on these facts.

The sentiment and little snowflake are the only things that are popped up with dimensionals. I am still contemplating whether or not to add just a piece of that sparkly silver ribbon from the Holiday catalogue, or a rhinestone or two to the card, but haven't quite made up my mind yet.

On the inside I stamped this lovely sentiment from the "Peace This Christmas" stamp set, as well as the little image, which I coloured with Stampin' Write Markers before stamping to give it the three colours.

That's it for today. For all my fellow Canadians, hope that you had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday.

Happy Stamping!
