Botanical Builder Card 4

This card I'm showing you today, is another of the series for a class, that uses Vellum; plain Vellum and the border die.

If you look closely at the two larger flowers, you can see the touch of So Saffron I added to them. The yellow peeks through the Smoky Slate die cut stamen. The gray leaf stamped with white ink and the white leaves with Smoky Slate ink.

For the birthday sentiment, I backed it with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper. To shape the sentiment I used the Word Window Punch for the sentiment, and cut a strip of glimmer paper just a little larger and rounded the corners with a small corner punch.

I did pull out the Botanical Blooms stamp set to stamp inside. To make the colours lighter, I off stamped first.

So that is the last card for this class which will be posted soon.  In the mean time I'm trying to complete another project and also get together instructions for the much requested 3 x 3 square cards box.

Botanical Builder Card 3

I'll be sad when Blackberry Bliss is gone at the end of May. But in the meantime we can still create some lovely things with it in classes and such. 

Today's Botanical Builder card also uses the Botanical Blooms stamp set to stamp the leaves.

And you will see that I used a sponge to colour the flower centers a bit, too. Even the Hello Honey flower is coloured in the center with the same ink colour and thereby darkening the center of the flower (which you can see better in real life).

By using the border die on the sides we can create a very interesting and unique look to the card. Let's look at it from a slight angle to better see this effect.

For this card, this is it. There will be one more card to show you that will be part of the class, but I love this set so you will probably see more things made using it anyway.

Botanical Builder Card 2

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Yesterday I share a couple of all white cards created with the new 2016 Occasions Botanical Builder Die set. Today, and the next couple of days, I'll be sharing more cards created with that set.

This one is a much simpler card than the ones I shared yesterday, and was cased from Pinterest.

You will note the pattern in behind the red flowers. This is the beautiful printed Vellum Stack available in the 2016 Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

In order to get this beautiful vellum stack, you must have an order of $60 or more and can then order this paper for free!

Now back to the card. Here is a little closer look at the flowers.

You will note the white center of the flowers, This was done using my 1/4" circle/hole punch and gluing it to the center. I also took the uni-ball Signo Gel Pen and coloured the black circular tips with it. It really makes everything in the flower pop!

Two All White Botanical Builder Cards

One night I sat with my Whisper White scraps and die cut a lot of "Botanical Builder" blooms. I was originally thinking of creating just one card, but the next day when I created my card, I had a lot of left overs. So I decided to make a second one. Since the first was a landscape card, I built the second as a portrait card.

 Here is the first and landscape card.

In the following close up you can better see the many layers to build a couple of the flowers. The one thing that gets me is that I didn't have enough pearls for the two cards...darn it. So you will see some flowers with rhinestones instead.

As I mentioned before, when I had so many pieces still left, I decided there was enough to create another card, and this time as a portrait card.

I don't know what it is, but whenever I make an all white card, I love it! One of the very first classes I taught here in Victoria, there was an all white card too that was a bug hit with the class.

I decided not include any sentiment to the cards. A person can always add one if they wish, or just leave it as it is. This card could be for a wedding, a confirmation, a baptism, a sympathy, or for a person that just loves the simplicity of white and/or flowers.

One of these cards will be part of a future class, so watch out for it!

More You Can Do With Scraps - Sentiments

 Hello Everyone!

Yesterday I shared with you what you can create to use up some of those scraps that begin to pile up. Today, I'd like to share with you what you can do to use up small cardstock scraps and organize your cardmaking; especially for those times when you have to put something together real quick!

In the following photo you see a little organizing container that I purchase a few of from a Dollar store a couple of years ago. (The bottom measurements are 3 1/4" wide x 5" long, and it is larger at the top) I'm wishing now that I had bought more of these since they don't have them any longer! The container is labeled with a name of a stamp set. In this case the 'And Many More' stamp set. And in the container are several little ziploc bags, also from the Dollar store, containing either Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock and a facsimile at the top of what each bag holds.

As I mentioned yesterday, I'm getting better at not hoarding every little piece of scrap for future. But what I do do, is keep some of them and at the end of each month I will watch a movie, or maybe two if I want to create more, and pick one or two stamp sets (or ones that I need to refill my bags with again) and stamp away on my many little pieces. I then take the more commonly used punches for sentiments (not all are in this photo) and punch them all out and place into the bags to be stored in these little organization bins.

Since this is the only one that currently has bags with sentiments in them, this is the only one I'm showing you. But I will show them all to you when they are filled again.

Below is a little closer look at some of them.

When I'm done refilling or creating a new set, I then throw away the rest (all of) the scraps no matter what my mind says about being able to use them, because experience has taught me that there will always be more to come. And after all I only have so much space, and I want to keep scraps from invading my space with the hope of using every little bit. Plus I know I will always what that next new DSP or lovely coloured cardstock! Lol!

This really helps me, and it gets easier to throw away scraps that don't get used, every time. I would like to challenge you to find a way to make use of your scraps, and not hoard them too long. What works for you?
