2 Cards - Christmas & a Sneak Peek

Today I will be showing you two different cards.

CHRISTMAS CARD/NATIVITY SCENE  - ALL YE FAITHFUL

I wanted to make something like a mini nativity for my Mom's bedroom. She's not well and if she can't sit in the den, she's in bed. I wanted her to have a little Christmas in her room that can sit on her night stand and view often. This is what I came up with.

It is like a card, measuring 5 1/2"w x 4 1/4"h with a bi-fold front.

The sentiment banner has a magnet between two banner pieces exactly the same size. This will keep it neatly closed in an envelope while being stored.  When it stands open, it creates a little nativity scene.

When you open it up like a card, you see the inside panels. (next photo) The gold embossed borders are created using the "Bordering Blooms" stamp set.

Hear is a closeup of the inside image. You can see that I used "Gorgeous Grunge" to create the gold embossed stars, and added a Gold Glimmer Paper star punched out with the Itty Bitty Star Punch.

Next is a zoomed in close up of the front of the card (closed).

Hope you like it. Next is everything I used to created this card, followed by the SNEAK PEEK CARD.

 SNEAK PEEK - GRATEFUL BUNCH

I made a few cards using the new and up-coming "Grateful Bunch Bundle". This first one, I created a background using the dotted line leaf stamp and with my Aqua Painters I went over the lines and the water picked up a little of the ink as I went along. You can probably see that better in the next close up photo.

The tag you see, is a little something that you can rite an extra special message on the back, or attach a gift card to.

See more detail in this next photo. I love to divide up the stamping of a single stamp, like with this sentiment. I stamped the top part of the sentiment on one piece, and the second line on another.

Not only did I used the Aqua Painter to trace the dotted leaf lines, but I also used it to paint in the stamped flower. I used Archival Basic Gray to stamp the bloom. I didn't want it to be real dark as it would have been with the black.

Next you can see the side view of the card.

And a little something on the inside...

Wait till you see tomorrow's card! I used the new and up-coming Blossom Bunch Punch". Here is what I used to make this card. The "Grateful Bunch Bundle" will not be in the list as it is not posted yet.

I'm so excited to share with you some of the great new products that I ordered from the new 2016 Occasions Catalogue! There is so much I want from the new catalogue that I can't get it all at once. I'm sure that is the case for most, so we have to browse and plan to get those items we want before that Catalogue expires.

I can't decide what my favorites are yet! But today I will post some of them. Let's begin with the "Going Places" 6 x 6 DSP Stack. Just look at these lovely papers! They would be great for scrapbooking, pocket scrapbooking, mini-albums, and cards!

There's even a lovely stamp set the coordinates - "Going Global", and an embossing folder (which I didn't get yet) called "World Traveler! Here's the stamp set.

These items will be found on page 39 of the new 2016 Occasions Catalogue.

Next, let's take a look at the exciting new bundle of Botanical Blooms!

This you will be able to find on pages 26 & 27 in the 2016 Occasions catalogue. This is a great bundle, because it includes the "Botanical Gardens" DSP, the two & 3 step stamp set "Botanical Blooms", and the Framelits Dies "Botanical Builder"!! You will save 15% when you purchase the bundle! The dies are even designed to die cut images from the DSP!

And, if you are thinking Valentines, anniversaries, Mother's Day, feminine Birthdays, and Weddings, this next paper stack is for you. "Love Blossoms"! This will be found on page 17, and you will find a lot of other product to go with this 6 x 6 DSP Stack!

I'll be getting some of those in the future to share with you.

Next, something fun. The "Baker's Twine Combo Pack"! The colours are Melon Mambo & Mint Macaron, each twisted with black.

These papers, above, will be used in our Designer Series Paper Club. This way you can get more paper variety without all the leftover paper, and save money! More info on that to come.

Well that's it for today. Tomorrow I will show you the rest of my pre-order, which will be about the stamp sets I orderd!

Thank you for stopping by. I can hardly wait to make some things with the new product and share it with you.

Another Flurry of Wishes Christmas Card

One of my favorite Christmas stamp sets is the "Flurry of Wishes" set. I've always been a sucker for those snowflake stamps! They're just so pretty! Today I'm showing you a card that is filled with them.

I used the double snowflake stamp and inked one flake with Lost Lagoon and the other with Smoky Slate, occasionally switching colours. I then placed a piece of Vellum in exactly the same size as the Whisper White over top.

Next came the creation of the layered snowflake medallion, which you see close up below.

I had a lot of fun playing with the Sequins and Rhinestones to embellish around the medallion.

You can see the side view next, and notice that the only dimensional pop up was given to the Silver Glimmer Paper on the medallion.

Originally, I had planned to used the snowflake you see on the inside of the card, below, for the front medallion. But, I messed up the embossing powder on it and realized it might be too dark against the Silver Glimmer Paper. So when working on the inside of the card, I figured out how to use the snowflake after all and covering the little bit that did not heat emboss well.

Sometimes a mistake can turn out to be something that you can use in a way you never thought of!

So wonderful of you to take the time out of your busy December schedule to have a peek.

Happy Stamping!

Layered Letter Alphabet Banner Christmas Card

Today I'm showing you a card in a style different from my usual. While working on the albums in my previous post, I wondered if I could used the "Layered Letters Alphabet" stamp set for a Christmas card. It did quite come out as I imagined it to be. I was hoping to get in a variety of green, red and gold banners as well, but the letters are too large for that idea. So snowballs and stars became a part of the idea.

For the word 'Merry' I used my Real Red Stampin' Write marker on the stamp from "Six Sayings". I like the little word 'Merry' banner against the much larger 'Christmas' banners.

The "Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper" you see are just strips tucked in next to the Real Red cardstock. Don't want to wast that precious paper.

And I even used the punched and die cut pieces on the inside of the card.

I think one of my teenage Grand-daughters would like this card....

In case you are wondering as to the size of this card, it is 9 1/4"w x 4"h, and fits perfectly into a size 10 business envelope. The product I used for this card you can view below.

Oh, and before I go, I just wanted to let you know how excited I am to receive my Stampin' Up! parcel on Wednesday! It brings new product from the 2016 Occasions Catalogue!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great week.

Happy Stamping!

Trying Something New For Scrapbooking - Part 5

Welcome! Today is the last of the Scrapbooking series. Hope you have been enjoying some of the new ideas I've come up with. I really enjoyed working on these two albums. I used some of the "Neutrals Designer Series Pack Stack" (138435) in this album. I love the new DSP stacks from this year. You can the page on the left below, where I used the Smoky Slate paper. On the right, the large 7 x 5 photo is attached to the narrow flap, so that when you lift it there are more photos revealed behind it. (the grasses you see at the bottom were stamped with the grass from "Wetlands" (126697) in alternating colours.

In the photo below, the right page has two bows tied with double "Linen Thread". When you untie these and lift up the tag end (one on the bottom & one at the top), more photos are revealed.  I used the "Layered Letters Alphabet" (138692) on the right, popped up with dimensionals. I'm sure I will be using that technique again.

The page on the I used the beautiful "Bordering Blooms" set (133660) again, and on the right, below, is an accordion page.

You can see here how I made a larger photo spread across the fold of the page. I also used scrap strips on the right of the photo. Faux stitching always looks wonderful in albums as well as on cards.

On the inside of the accordion page, the left has the word "Smile" stamped on from a retired stamp set and is a flap that lifts up to reveal more photos. On the right you see the word 'Joy". this was die cut using the"wonderful Wreath Framelits" set.

If you have two very different colours being used from one page to another, I like to try and find a way to connect them. On this occasion I used stars. On the left are stars stamped from a retired stamp set, and on the right I used the "Star Framelits" (133723). I took a sheet of regular paper and die cut stars from it to use as a stencil and stamped text into the star shape.

Below, on the left, you see overlapping tabs created with the Envelope Punch Board (133774) with a heart stamped with "Groovy Love" (134246) and punched out with the "Sweetheart Punch" (133786). Behind the heart is a magnet to help keep the overlapping tab closed. And it looks like I didn't get a photo of them opened. Wonder how I missed that? I guess I was in a hurry...

On the right I used the "Chevron Border Punch" (132154) on a strip from the "Sweet Li'l Things DSP" (138447) and used some of the punched out bits on the cardstock flap pointing to the month stamped on using "Project Life Day to Day" (135785). The letters are from the same alphabet stamp mentioned earlier, and are the initials of the two in the hidden photo.

You might be wondering why I stopped at the month of August. Well I didn't. I just was unable to get photos of the rest before leaving for Phoenix. I did complete it up through November except for the US Thanksgiving celebrations. And, since December hadn't happened yet, that too is missing from the album. My plan is to complete those pages and send them off later.

So there you have some different scrapbooking ideas that combine scrapbooking and mini-album techniques. Thanks for joining me in viewing this series.

Happy creating & stamping!
